Isaiah 55:10-11 "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. |

...About God... There is but one God, existing eternally, at work in three unique personalities, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each is fully God, and co-equal with God. He is eternal, having always existed. He is all-powerful. He is all-present. He is all-knowing. (Gen. 1:1,26-27, 3:22, Ps. 90:2, Ps. 139, Matt. 28:19, 1 Peter 1:2) ...About Jesus Christ... Jesus is the Son of God, co-equal with God. God chose to reveal Himself through His Son. Jesus is responsible for the creative order. Jesus was commissioned by God not only to reveal God to man, but to redeem man to God. He became a man and lived a sinless life. He died on a cross, was buried, and was raised three days later demonstrating His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again someday. Jesus is the only way to God. (Is. 9:6, Matt.1:22-23, John 1:1-5, John 14:10-30, Heb.4:14-14, 1 Cor. 15:3-4, Ro. 1:3-4) ...About the Holy Spirit... The Holy Spirit is co-equal with God. He is present in the world to help man come to the realization of their need for Jesus. He lives within each Christian and gifts them with abilities and talents for Kingdom purposes. He provides Christians with power for living, understanding spiritual truth, and guidance for doing right. (Acts 1:8, John 16:7-13, 1Cor. 3:16, Eph.5:18, 2 Tim.1:14) ...About the Bible... The Bible is God’s Word to us, without error. The authors were guided by the Holy Spirit, without impeding the writer’s individual personalities. This testimony about God could only come from God. God’s Word can be trusted. His Word contains answers for living a life of value, worth, and service to Him. His Word contains all that we need to know for entering into a personal relationship with Him. (2 Tim. 3:16, 2 Pet. 1:20-21, 2 Cor. 4:7, Heb. 4:12) ...About Mankind... All of mankind has been created in the spiritual image of God. We are the highlight of His creation. Sin has entered into the world through the choice of one man. We have all been marred by our own disobedience toward God. This is the attitude that separates people from God and causes many problems in life. (Genesis 1:27, Ps. 8:3-6, Rom. 3:23, Rom. 6:23, Is. 59:1-2) ...About Salvation... Salvation is God’s free gift to all of mankind. Just like any gift, it must be accepted. We will never be “good enough” to earn it or deserve it. We must accept the sacrifice of Jesus and salvation by God’s design, trusting God’s promises to forgive us through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ. Salvation is past, present, and future. (Romans 6:23, 2 Timothy 1:12, Heb. 7:25, Heb. 10:10, 1Peter 1:3-5) ...About the Lord’s Supper... We celebrate the Lord’s Supper (communion) each Sunday. The first-century church set this example for us. The Lord’s death, burial, and resurrection is central to Christianity and deserves to be remembered whenever believers get together for worship. (Acts 20:7, Matt.26:26-28, 1Cor. 11:23-30, Luke 22:19-20) ...About Eternity... People were created to live forever. Each person will either live eternally separated from God or eternally with God through God’s grace. Those separated from God will be placed in Hell. (John 3:16, Romans 6:23; 8:17, John 14:2-3, Revelation 20:15) |

… Obeying the Gospel It is the most important solution in man’s life. The problem is that sin has separated mankind from God. The solution is to re-establish a relationship with God. This is the reason Jesus Christ was sent to earth. God’s Word, the Bible, details our Creator sending Jesus the Christ, His Son, to make a relationship possible. God’s Word actually helps us navigate a course to Jesus, the Savior of the world. God’s relationship with man is so great that no one verse is capable of expressing it. This is why we need the whole Bible, not just a verse or two. We must be committed to accept ALL of what God says about the subject of salvation, not simply one or two points of interest or verses. When God speaks, we must be willing to listen. When necessary, we must be willing to change our opinions so that they are in line with God’s Truth and as we discover the TRUTH take the appropriate actions. Thus we obey the gospel. 2 Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 5 SALVATION STEPS 1. BELIEVE We must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. We must believe that He lived a sinless life, died, was buried, and was raised from the dead and now waits to return one final time. 1Thess.4:13-18 Acts 16:31: “They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved you and your household.” 2. REPENT Repentance is an act. It is more than simply saying “I’m sorry.” It is turning away from sin and toward God by accepting His ways. Acts 17:30-31 "Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, 31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead." 3. CONFESS (ACKNOWLEDGE) Biblical confession is not going to a priest and telling him what you have done wrong. Biblical confession is verbally acknowledging that Jesus Christ is Lord. Matthew 10:32-33 Acts 8:36 As they went along the road they came to some water; and the eunuch said, "Look! Water! What prevents me from being baptized?" 37 And Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." And he answered and said, "I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God." 4. BAPTISM Many have suggested that baptism is simply an act of obedience, demonstrating one’s faith. Baptism is an act of obedience, but God’s Word tells us that baptism is much more...it is connected to the salvation process. Romans 6:3-11 Every example of baptism in the New Testament is always immersion. Therefore we do not sprinkle. Mark 16:16: “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” Acts 2:37-38: “When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” 5. LIVE THE CHRISTIAN LIFE There are hundreds of New Testament Scriptures emphasizing the need to finish the Christian race. Without a finish, there is no victory. Remaining faithful is required by God to receive salvation. Jesus, Himself, leaves us an example of remaining faithful. Matthew 10:22: “All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.” All members of Oceanside Christian Church are immersed, repentant, confessed, believers who are striving to live their life for the glory of their Savior and Lord, Jesus the Christ. |
